friday

i sat here for about 60 seconds trying to think of a beautiful song lyric that would encapsulate today's post. and i obviously failed.

things that bother me:
(1) why does hairdye fade? they really should make it permanent...permanent. although that would cripple the ENTIRE industry of hair products
(2) whenever i gather enough energy to wear makeup and eyeliner...it somehow makes my contacts go CRAZY. WHY!? WHY WHY WHY! it makes me crazy!! it is like there is sand in my eyes and my vision is foggy. it makes no sense!

things that (are) please(ing) me:
(1) nail polish. i thought of writing an ode to nail polish but i didn't think anyone would read it. so i'll sum up!
a. Rescue Beauty Lounge! RBL is a high end ($18/bottle) nail polish brand. the woman who created it, jill baek has the uncanny ability to turn boring colours beautiful. i mean when else would i want to wear taupe on my fingers and be sad to take it off! the polishes are expensive and definitely a splurge but hands down the BEST nail polish i've ever had [and i own about 80-90 bottles of nail polish [[yes i know...i'm a freak! i can't help it!]]] it's smooth and luscious. AND it's ridiculously shiny. most nail polishes are not very shiny and that is why you use a top coat! to protect and add shine. but 99% of top coats fade within 24-48 hours. i can wear a manicure of RBL and it will stay shiny for 5 days. and that's insane. i am super tough on my fingers and tend to have nail polish chipping like crazy...so to find one that stays looking pretty and shiny...WOW.
b. Nubar! nubar are another nail polish company that i'm currently favouriting. they excel at something called 'duochromes'. have you ever seen a colour and it looks different in different lights? like at once glance it could be blue, another glance purple and another glance green? that is called a duo (or tri i suppose if it's 3!) chrome. the polish i am wearing right now, called 'peacock feathers' is blue, green and purple all at the same time...it's really quite fascinating...and a bit distracting!
(2) Superdrug generic brand hair dye. okay...so i usually spend between £5-£7 for the name brands, l'oreal, feria...etc. i mean it's my hair! i want it to look nice [did i mention i gave up getting my hair professionally dyed as part of my new year's resolution to save money?]. but i took a chance on the superdrug generic hair dye...£2.50. and i LOVE IT. the colour is great and i am completely happy with the results. since a professional hair dye costs about £200 [and of course it's better...that's just a fact] but £2.50 for DIY job that looks nice? AWESOME. i'm overjoyed!

it's nearly the weekend and that will be nice! i am meeting with a girl today and attempting to convince her that she needs to buy MY handbag instead of the others on ebay and that way i can get my £300 that i desperately need. i hate money but i am happy that i am fixing my money problems on my own. do i wish i didn't have to sell my beautiful pewter handbag? yes. but i feel like i need to punish myself for going so out of control last year. this year is about moderation!

i'm sure i had more to say but whatever. the end!
