i know...a monday and no post. it was strange for me as well. i wanted to write something but monday i was busy and then yesterday i was even busier. how dare i have actual work get in the way of my blogging.
and then i had forgotten about my want to write something today until vanessa reminded. which reminds me that my best friend vanessa, a ridiculously talented writer has an AGENT! she is going to be a famous published author and i could not be happier. it's about time someone realised what a great writer she is. she's officially on the road to writing for a living! well....a long ways off. but she's on the road now and not just hitchhiking.
i think that pink does not get enough credit as a lyricist. my title is one of her lyrics. although i've only heard 2 albums of hers, i'm not dead and her new one, funhouse i must admit i'm extremely impressed by what she writes. although like most singers and writers in general she has absolutely moronic lines like 'i throw a handful of glitter in the air' and then rhymes something with air. no thank you. but then she has amazing lyrics about being the perfect little punching bag [oh how i WISH i'd thought of that first. what an amazing line.]. i actually find her lyrics inspire the writer in me. although not enough to think of enough original lines but i am toying with the idea of a mashup of my favourite lines by my favourite writers and seeing where it takes me.
so the selling things off to make money plan has hit a hitch. i sold a pair of shoes, a clutch and a bag. but i really REALLY need to sell my viola so i can do the visa and laptop thing. otherwise it will have to wait until february at least to get a computer. and by february i mean payday on the 28th so march. my ebay auction didn't go, i'm tempted to throw my bow in in hopes of getting more interest? ugh. i put it on gumtree which is the UK version of craigslist and no interest yet. pffft. i just want to make money on my own and fix my money problems on my own. it's this whole saving money being a grown up 2009 plan. i also decided to open an ISA and leave my savings account as is. i will put £50/month in each. and that way i can do something nice with my savings account (like buy a new pair of louboutins) when i've saved enough money and still manage to save up for retirement and not spend money i don't have on nice things. it seems like a really smart plan to me. i don't want to definitively say i won't buy anything nice this year but just because i've saved enough for a nice pair of shoes doesn't automatically mean that i will buy them. it will just be a nice way to still have the option of nice things without bankrupting myself. see if i had done this last year i wouldn't even BE in this predicament.
my right index finger...the nail is too long and it hits the keyboard when i type and it's not a pleasant feeling. however i am loving the pinky coral colour they are painted.
i keep exploring options for exercise because i know that i need to exercise but i am not sure what i want to do. i really liked bikram but with my new job location it is just impractical. it would take me 30 minutes to get there and over an hour to get home. that's not something i'm willing to do. there is a fitness first on the ground floor of my building but i'm not really a gym person. i've tried before and it never works. climbing is still out of the question since i just don't want to go all the way to the climbing gym. it's equally as far north as the bikram studio is west. i thought about doing a military fitness thing...like bootcamp but im' not sure if that's really me either. i will try it one day and see how i feel. i think i really want to get back to dance and luckily there is a dance studio near by...i'm just not sure if any of the classes are practical for my schedule. just more thinking i suppose. although in the meantime my 'eat practically nothing and then eat dinner' diet is working out very well.
steve suggested spending a week this summer in the french countryside or in sweden which sounds amazing and very un-steve. he never wants to go anywhere so i'm quite excited at the prospect. i've only been to paris, not the countryside and i've never been to sweden! hopefully it remains a plan and it will be the first time i ever go anywhere with steve! wel...anywhere that isn't his parents house.
i've come to the realisation that i can't afford to go back to the states this year either. it's just too much in this economy. plus by the time i save enough money to go ...in my savings account i would've missed the thing i was saving for which was to attend kristen's wedding. i do want to go but i don't have the money for a plane ticket. i can't even afford a new computer and that is even cheaper than a roundtrip flight to san francisco. and my visa. it's just not gonna happen. i haven't told kristen yet though. i don't know what to say.
today is a quiet day at work and that is pleasing me immensely after two manic days.
